The guitar went up for sale on eBay on Sunday, November 18 at 10:00AM PST, and will close on Sunday, the 25th.
This guitar was built by renowned luthier Danny Ferrington, the 13th instrument he built, for Nashville musician Mark Casstevens (amongst a host of other things, Mark played the distinctive banjo on ‘Misty’ by Ray Stevens). Richard Thompson has owned it and played it for about 20 years. It has a spruce top and dark-stained flame-maple back, sides and neck. It is voiced with a strong bass response, and is currently set up as a bluegrass rhythm guitar, with a high action for best projection. It was used as a rhythm guitar on Richard’s Amnesia album, on the tracks Can’t Win and Yankee Go Home. Comes with hardshell tweed case (with 80s vintage Grammy Awards sticker). It has a few dings, and a couple of minor cracks, consistent with its age and use.
