Rolling Stone magazine’s David Fricke has chosen Porcupine Tree as one of his “Fricke’s Picks”. Fricke, one of the few remaining writers at RS to actually remember the glory days of Prog, writes:
Wilson started Porcupine Tree in 1987 as a home-studio experiment that has since evolved, live and on an extensive series of records, into an aggressively modern merger of Rush’s arena art rock, U.K. prog classicism – especially Pink Floyd’s eulogies to madness and King Crimson’s angular majesty
Classic Rock Magazine held their third annual awards show this past Monday. The ceremony at London’s über-posh Landmark Hotel was awash with rock royalty. Winners of the Prog persuasion included:
DVD Of The Year: Frank Zappa Classic Albums
Band Of The Year: Rush
Album Of The Year: Porcupine Tree – Fear Of A Blank Planet
Porcupine Tree will stream their set from tonight’s Voodoo Music Experience live at www.iclips.net – for FREE. The streaming is set to begin at 6:55PM, Eastern.
It seems so many people want to get the Transmission digipack version of the Nil Recurring mini album, that we are repressing it, and it’s available to pre-order now from our PT on-line Store. The idea was never to make this music available only to a select few people, we just underestimated how many people would want it. Anyway, it’s now once again available, and will also be available on the forthcoming tour. There will be permanent retail version of the mini album released early in 2008, plus we are also going to have it at the download store soon.
Porcupine Tree has announced 4 new items available for pre-order from their online store, including the brand new “Nil Recurring” mini album, which for the time being is exclusive to the store.
PORCUPINE TREE – Nil Recurring (CD mini album)
PORCUPINE TREE – Fear of a Blank Planet DVDA
PORCUPINE TREE – Fear of a Blank Planet (2LP vinyl)
PORCUPINE TREE – Fear of a Blank Planet (2LP vinyl – Special Edition)
Porcupine Tree have confirmed three French dates for their forthcoming European tour, including a show at the prestigious Olympia Theatre in Paris. Opening band will be Anathema.
