If there was a suitable reason or things change a bit in the next year or two and everybody suddenly thinks, ‘Well, actually, I really would like to do that’ then I think it’ll happen,” he said. “But until there’s that sort of sea-change, the only thing that would generate it would be something the equivalent of Live 8.

This book will most surely be on many Christmas lists this holiday season. Written by David Gilmour’s guitar tech, “The Black Strat” tells the story of Gilmour’s iconic black guitar, bought off the shelf at Manny’s music store, New York, in 1970. The book format is large-scale paperback in a high-gloss cover, and its 121 pages feature a photo or photos on almost all of them:

The chronological story begins with David Gilmour joining Pink Floyd in early 1968, his guitar at that time, his subsequent instruments leading to the purchase of the Black Strat in 1970, and the other guitars that have come and gone. It details all of the changes and modifications made to the Black Strat, it’s use on Pink Floyd tours and iconic albums, David’s solo projects, and various guest appearances throughout the years.

The price is £19.95 plus shipping, and is currently only available at this website.
