Theremin Music Festival Announced

Moog Music will once again sponsor â€œEther Music 2008â€, an International Theremin Festival in Asheville, NC, on April 24-27th 2008. The festival will feature special appearances by Lydia Kavina, Pamelia Kurstin, Shueh-li Ong and many more top artists. The event will also feature workshops, concerts, factory tours and “much, much more”.

Billy Corgan wants Moog Museum

ContactMusic.com reports that Billy Corgan is helping set up a museum dedicated to the late Dr. Bob Moog. Corgan has joined forces with the Bob Moog Foundation to restore and preserve Moog’s archives, which were left in a state of disrepair when he died in 2005. Corgan also hopes to establish scholarships in Moog’s name. In a statement, he says,

“I believe Bob Moog to be one of the great visionaries of our time. His ideas far transcend use in just music, and, to this day, continue to have an impact in everything from rock to rap to quantum physics. “I strongly believe many people all over the world would benefit from being able to interact with the thoughts, ideas, inventions, and life of Dr. Moog.”

Erik Norlander Confirmed for Moogfest

Monster keyboardist Erik Norlander will perform at Moogfest, the annual festival commemorating the achievements of inventor Robert Moog and his namesake synthesizers. Along with Norlander, other performers include Thomas Dolby, Jordan Rudess, Adam Holzman, Spiraling, Don Preston, Gershon Kingsley, Nail, and Herb Deutsch.

Moogfest will once again take place at B.B. King’s Blues Club, located at 243 West 42nd Street in New York City. Learn more here.
