Phil turns 57 today.

Sony/BMG have confirmed the release of three “expanded” APP albums; Pyramid, Turn of a Friendly Card and Stereotomy. The international release date is March 10th.

To celebrate the general release of ‘Nil Recurring’ on February 18th, Peaceville Records have created a new mini-site at peaceville.com/porcupinetree.
The site features info, downloads, audio samples and will also premiere the new video by Lasse Hoile for the track ‘Normal’ on February 15th.
Fans can also download a special ‘Nil Recurring’ banner from the site which will enable them to embed a Porcupine Tree audio player on their own site, blog or myspace.
There are also French, Italian and German language versions of the mini-site.
Nil Recurring follows the release of Porcupine Tree’s grammy-nominated ‘Fear of a Blank Planet’ album. The mini-album (29 minutes of music) was written during the ‘Fear Of A Blank Planet’ sessions, completed over the summer of 2007, and is now presented as a cohesive, self-contained Porcupine Tree work in its own right.
The title track features Robert Fripp on lead guitar, and the album moves through the full Porcupine Tree spectrum of atmospheric ambience, melodic hooks, and crushing riffs.
This edition is packaged in a deluxe super jewel case in textured slipcase.
Porcupine Tree are regarded as one of the most impressive experimental/ progressive/ psychedelic rock bands to emerge from the UK since their inception in 1991, having enjoyed a successful recording career spanning over 15 years.
Frontman Steven Wilson is also known for his recent work with Aviv Geffen as Blackfield and for his production and musical contributions on the Opeth albums ‘Blackwater Park’, ‘Deliverance’ and ‘Damnation’.

Admit it. You’ve always wondered what it would sound like for Queensryche to cover Sabbath’s Neon Knights…right? The clip above is from their January 26th show at the Myth nightclub in Maplewood, Minnesota. They are joined by Rick Forsgren, the lead singer of the Minneapolis tribute act Rockfist!. Apparently the Zeppelin vocalist prefers Captain Beefheart over, say, more current musical fare. Read the full story over at The Sun. We prefer Beefheart too.
