Fish’s “13th Star” Reviewed

Checkout the blog Where Worlds Collide for an interesting review of Fish’s upcoming release 13th Star.

Fish isn’t the world’s best singer by any means. And nowadays he lacks the range he had in his younger years. He makes up for this with his impassioned and emotional delivery; frustration, anger, sadness and ultimately hope.

You can purchase the CD directly from Fish’s online shop.

Dave Kilminster NYC Meet-and-Greet

While in NYC, Dave will be appearing at Manny’s Music Store for a meet and greet on Tuesday September 25th, 5.30pm til 7pm. From Dave’s website:

This is thoroughly informal and people who come to the store can just come in and chat with Dave about anything and everything… his new album — the rocker Scarlet, different guitar techniques, what it is like to work with the best in rock: Asia bass player John Wetton, ELP drummer Carl Palmer, the incomparable keyboard legend Keith Emerson, Pink Floyd founder Roger Waters… in fact, Dave is glad to talk about just about whatever you like!

FYI – Manny’s Music can be found at 156 West 48th Street (between 6th & 7th Ave).

Peart Named Drummer of the Year

The November edition of DRUM! Magazine will publish the results of the 2007 Drummie! Awards in which Neil Peart was a big winner, to say the very least. He’s #1 in the following categories:

  • Drummer of the Year
  • Progressive Rock Drummer
  • Live Performer
  • Drumming DVD (Anatomy Of A Drum Solo)
  • Drumming Album (Snakes & Arrows)

Also, Neil’s website placed as the #2 Drum Website (drummerworld.com was #1).

Asia Piracy Alert

A note from the band’s management:

“We are aware of various sites selling photos and prints relating to Asia. Please note that unless these can demonstrate legitimate copyright approval, such product may be regarded as unauthorised and will probably be benefiting opportunist pirates, bootleggers and copyright cheats. Nothing less than theft – a criminal offence.

If a product is legitimate, the merchant will have nothing to lose by working with Asia’s official outlets. Ergo, we suggest visiting the official Asia site for reference. As a general rule, if it isn’t authorised there, it isn’t authorised anywhere.”

Wakeman’s “Grumpy Old Picture Show” Mini Tour

From his website, Rick has accounced dates for his “Grumpy Old Picture Show” mini-tour:

On stage will be an acoustic piano, a keyboard rig and a lectern, from where a rather “unbelievably silly”, “tongue in cheek” and at times, what may only prove to be adequately described as “hysterical”, version of much of my life will be related.

Accompanying all this will be specially prepared, and in many cases previously unseen, film footage illustrating both the stories and much of the music that I will be playing and finishing off with a specially prepared “film finale” that could well prove to something of a show-stopper if all goes according to plan!

There will be 14 shows from the 25th of October until the 13th of November. Visit Rick’s official website for exact dates and venues.
